La Tienda de Miel Dzidzilche (The Honey Store)

Located in the poblado Macario Gómez, the honey store is worth a trip.  Follow Rt. 307 into Tulum.  Take a right at the lights where the Aki supermarket plaza is on your right.  Follow that road for about 10.5 miles or 16.9 km.  Officially the address is Carretera Tulum-Cobá Km. 21.  You will see the colorful store on your left.  There is a cut in the median to make your turn.

Wilber is your guy. He is fluent in English and more than helpful.  The products are not just honey based, but the majority are made with local honey.  There are various size bottles of honey, body wash, and lotion.  Shampoos and conditioners, after-sun products, and bug repellant also line the shelves.  There is a huge selection of bar soaps in so many different scents and sizes, it’s impossible to choose.  Bags of honey candy are for sale, and I purchased a jar of Perlas de Propoleos, to soothe a sore throat.  New to the shop are jars of honey with the honey comb inside.
Travel size bottles are available, perfect to take as gifts and easy to pack.

On the way home, Mary and I stopped for lunch at a pollo de carbón stand.  Delicious, and 200 pesos gave us more food than we needed.  There are also lots of other shops on both sides of the road, so stop and take a peek.  Well worth the ride.
