Smoking Ban on Mexican Beaches

While our editor is on vacation, I will attempt to fill her shoes.

A new Mexican law went into effect on Sunday, January 15, 2023.  According to the law, smoking will be not be allowed on beaches, parks or anywhere children gather. This new law is part of the country’s General Law for Tobacco Control reform.  This new law is one of the world’s strictest anti-tobacco laws. The ban means no smoking in any public place.  The law also bans promotion, advertising and sponsorship of tobacco products.   Sale and use of e-cigarettes and vapes also face new restrictions.  At this point there is no information on who will enforce the ban.
