Iyengar Yoga is a method that can be practiced by anyone. It is very precise about the alignment of the physical body in postures. The practice makes use of various props so that perfection can be attained in the postures. Many styles of yoga being taught today can trace their roots to Iyengar Yoga.

The opportunity to study Iyengar Yoga is unique in Quintana Roo as there are no regular Iyengar classes in the area. Russian teacher Vitaly Litvinov has extensive training in this method, studying with the great master B.K.S. Iyengar and other expert Iyengar teachers. Vitaly has been teaching Iyengar Yoga all around the world and is happy to be making his first trip to Mexico.

Michael Stewart has been developing a methodology called Tantric Hatha Yoga. The postures and alignment principles are firmly rooted in the Iyengar Yoga tradition. While the Tantric Hatha practice evolved in Akumal with the yoga community here, now he only teaches this in retreat or training environments internationally. This is to enable students to have a complete understanding of the “tools” and philosophy that the method is based upon. It is a unique, in-depth, integrating practice that will provide a rich dialogue with the profound principles and methods of Iyengar Yoga.
