We all often receive calls on our cell phones from numbers that are not in our contacts, usually from call centers, and in this case one of the area codes with the most reports is the one that starts with 811 . If you receive a call with the first three digits 811, it is best not to answer it.
ADSL Zone, a website specializing in telecommunications, points out that calls from +811 or 00811 are scams carried out via satellite, and that their modus operandi is that they will not give you time to answer. This leaves a record of the missed call, and if you return the call, it automatically generates revenue for the other number. Some countries have already issued a security alert about this practice.
In Mexico, the problem is exacerbated because Nuevo León has the area code 81, which could lead to confusion.
So what should you do if you receive a call that starts with 811? Ignore it. It’s recommended that you not return the call.
