Supermoon on 14 November!

moon-full-on-waterAttention sky-watchers!  The full moon on 14 November will be the biggest since January, 1948, scientists are saying.   This “supermoon” is one of three occurring at the end of 2016, the other two brightening our skies in October and December.   Another full moon will not come this close to Earth for almost 20 years – until 25 November 2034.

A supermoon can be up to 14% bigger and shine 30% brighter than a usual full moon, so it’s worth looking up for!  This supermoon will reach the crest of its full phase on 14 November at 8:52 a.m. EST, 7:52 a.m. CST, 6:52 a.m. MST, and 5:52 a.m. PST (1352 UTC/GMT).   But according to Bruce McClure, for us in the Americas, the moon will be closer to full on the night of 13 November.

Good luck!
