Many have been following the talented Diablillas Mestizas de Hondzonot, QRoo softball team for years. Fascinated by their ability and drive to play softball while paying homage to their Maya roots – the team wears traditional Maya huipil dresses and goes barefoot – they are warriors who are truly an honor to watch.
The Quintana Roo team recently played in the finals series against the Melenudas de Valladolid, just a short two hour drive from Akumal. If you ever have a chance to see these fierce women play in Valladolid you won’t be disappointed. You will be greeted by a well-manicured softball field with awning-covered bleachers. The venue is beautiful and at first sight you realize the great care and pride the city puts into this venue. The stadium fills up rather quickly and the energy is truly contagious. The cheers, pride and excitement from the crowd is infectious. The women are so gracious and honored by spectators wanting to see them play.
If you have the opportunity to attend a game, you will leave with an appreciation that is hard to put into words. The experience will truly be enjoyable from start to finish and you will be a fan wanting to see more!

Kathleen, Amy says that an actual “schedule “ doesn’t exist. The games are confirmed the week of the game. Their FB page seems to be where they post the info. Find them at the team name.
