In the Riviera Maya, the soil and the water have a lot of salt content. For that reason, it is necessary to have plants and trees that are salt tolerant. There are many web sites that can give you that information. Salt in the water and soil can slow or prohibit the water from getting to the roots and also coat the roots. But with Salt Tolerant plants this is not a problem.
