After your first trip to Akumal, what made you want to return? Was it the beach? Seeing for the first time a huge turtle while snorkeling? A romantic dinner on a full moon night on the edge of Half Moon Bay? Or was it walking around your favorite bar meeting new friends? Was it the simple life of Akumal and its friendly people?
Well, for me, after 40 years, it was and still is all of the above. Your first trip may have been 40 years ago, or 6 months ago, but you are hooked on Akumal and what it has to offer.
The first time I saw Yal-Ku Lagoon on the cover of Caribbean Travel and Life, I knew the changes were coming. My friend Peter kept telling me to stop telling people how wonderful Akumal is. He said they would just want to visit and it would change Akumal.
Well, in saying all of this, I want to tell you about a Fundraiser. In a few words, it is a fundraiser to help keep Akumal a sustainable community. It will also be a chance to see old friends and meet new ones.
I ask you to mark your calendars for Tuesday, February 7, 2023 and join us at Lol Ha Restaurant from 5 – 9 pm. Tickets will be available at the door at a cost of $50 usd. Included in the price of the ticket is an open bar, appetizers, music and perhaps a huge silent auction.
Please join us in this great cause to help keep Akumal, well, Akumal!
More details will follow on how you can purchase your tickets ahead of time and what other activities will be planned.
If anyone would like to donate to our silent auction, please contact me, Shirley, at [email protected]
Hope to see you there!
