When corporate retreats reach out to Akumal for team-building community events, everyone wins! An International Institution while in Cancún for corporate meetings took time out to journey to Akumal for a day of community service. Centro Ecológico Akumal directed 80 employees for a day of short-term volunteering. Half of the group went to the rocky shore and did a debris clean up, collecting 116 kilos of what was mostly plastic. The other half went to Hekab Be Biblioteca where new murals were added, benches were painted, chalkboards painted on classroom walls, giving a bright, new look for this gem in our community. New palms and other trees were planted so these great community helpers can reap their rewards upon their return to Akumal, leaving a footprint that will last for years to come!
