Massive blackout affected Yucatan, Quintana Roo and Campeche

According to the CFE and hundreds of inhabitants on social networks, the electrical failure occurred around 5:00 pm, May 27, 2022.  CFE reported that the service has already been restored in 97% of the affected households

The Yucatan Peninsula had a power outage, according to a bulletin from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), which occurred due to a storm with atmospheric discharges.   “At 5:36 p.m., the supply of users in Campeche was restored to normal and at 5:46 p.m. the service of users in Yucatan,” according to the CFE.

Despite the official information, users of social networks pointed out that around 9:00 p.m., areas surrounding Cancun, Tulum and Chetumal were still without power. . “ @CFEmx In the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood of Tekax, Yucatán, we are still without power,” wrote an Internet user.   Cancún police were assisting motorists, as some traffic lights were still not working, according to the official account of the Cancun Traffic Directorate on twitter.

— So, when a power outage occurs  (for whatever reason)  hit the net.  Especially Twitter.  Local residents have had better luck with Twitter than with numerous phone calls to CFE office..
