⚠️ New Requirement for Dogs Entering Mexico from the U.S. (Effective August 3, 2026)

If you’re bringing a dog from the United States into Mexico, you’ll need to have your dog examined by a USDA-accredited veterinarian in the U.S. within 5 days before crossing the border or flying to Mexico. The vet must issue a New World Screwworm (NWS) inspection certificate confirming the dog is free of screwworm.

This is a new requirement from the Mexican government and applies to dogs entering from the U.S. If you have guests, friends or family planning to visit Mexico with their dogs, make sure they know about this new requirement before they travel. It could save them from delays or denied entry.
