Que Onda Deli is open for business! It’s located where the Que Onda restaurant used to be, at the top end of Akumal Norte across the street from Casa Christianson. Bagels, pastries, sandwiches, focaccia, tiramisu and more are served up with a smile by a lovely young man. Hours are 9-4 Monday thru Friday, and 9-2 on Saturdays.
Mercado Mexicano has opened in the local on the south end of Jamie’s hotel. Hours are 8-11 daily.

Coming Soon! La Piccolina will be opening in Akumal Centro, across the street from Chomak. We’re still waiting for the exact date, along with a full menu to tantalize your taste buds. Edgar, the owner, will serve slices until 5 PM, and then will make deliveries. He’s waiting for the final permits to open the doors. Here are a few photos of what he’ll be offering —
Many long-timers will remember the Comercial Mexicana store next to Costco in Cancún. Well, La Cómer in Tulum is a successor of the original company, which also sold many of its locations to Soriana. Unlike the original company, La Cómer doesn’t offer massive discounts, but it does have a bakery and deli that are worth a visit – plus plenty of covered parking.
La Cómer is located on the left at the stoplight on Hwy 307 and the Cobá road. Store hours are 7-10 daily.
