Facelift for Akumal Entrance Road

Akumal Norte can thank our friendly, neighborhood insurance agent for taking steps to help our poor, pot-holey excuse for an entrance road.  Luis Lobo donated 3 m. of sascab, the traditional Maya limestone/gravel mixture used for road making and repairing  on the Peninsula.   Rhett Schober of Akumal Villas, a local rental business, contributed signage and Eus Kauil of  Versa de Akumal, a local maintenance company, sent a crew to spread the sascab.  An unnamed taxista helped direct traffic.

The plan is to purchase another 7 m. of product to finish the project Monday.

In the meantime,  a crew from Hotel Akumal Caribe filled in holes at the west end of the road.

And then the rains came!!!

¿Question?: Isn’t the predial we pay every year supposed to cover road repairs . . .  Come on, Tulum!

  1. Good to see all the businesses there contributing? Forget your taxes – just charge each vehicle entering Akumal for business purposes, 10 pesos daily. Charge the vehicles that make the most damage.
