Arthritis and Chiropractic

Arthritis may affect nearly everyone over 45 years of age.  By definition arthritis is the inflammation of joints in the body.  It can be part of a disease process such as rheumatoid or psoriatic arthritis, or it can be the result of damage to joints due to the aging process, injuries, or wear due to the friction of imbalanced joints.  This last form of arthritis is known as Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD) or osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and is the type that a chiropractor can help with.  By help I do not mean cure, but there are two important benefits for the condition.   If the joint pain is due to imbalance, chiropractic can help.  Imbalance causes friction leads to pain; restore balance, reduce friction, inflammation and pain.  Simple.

Joints of the spine are particularly affected by DJD.   Sports, falls, poor posture, hard physical jobs, stress, accidents, hereditary factors — all can result in joint imbalance.  And over time the imbalances evolve into arthritis.  Chiropractic treatment can relieve or eliminate the pain of arthritis and slow or stop the arthritic process.

Never think that once you’ve been told that you have arthritis there is nothing you can do!
