Akumal Norte can thank our friendly, neighborhood insurance agent for taking steps to help our poor, pot-holey excuse for an entrance road. Luis Lobo donated 3 m. of sascab, the traditional Maya limestone/gravel mixture used for road making and repairing on the Peninsula. Rhett Schober of Akumal Villas, a local rental business, contributed signage and Eus Kauil of Versa de Akumal, a local maintenance company, sent a crew to spread the sascab. An unnamed taxista helped direct traffic.
The plan is to purchase another 7 m. of product to finish the project Monday.
In the meantime, a crew from Hotel Akumal Caribe filled in holes at the west end of the road.
And then the rains came!!!
¿Question?: Isn’t the predial we pay every year supposed to cover road repairs . . . Come on, Tulum!
Good to see all the businesses there contributing? Forget your taxes – just charge each vehicle entering Akumal for business purposes, 10 pesos daily. Charge the vehicles that make the most damage.
Thank you, Mr. Lobo, and all. Much needed improvement.
Very kind Luis.
