What’s New? March 7, 2016 0 The metal sculpture that was in place by the yoga studio was moved across the road Friday evening, 4 March. It’s now in front of the foliage covering the chain link gates at the traditional entrance to Akumal Bay beach. The news magazine Polemica (28 March ’16) has an interesting article that covers several aspects and players in the continuing saga of the Akumal Bay situation. Three loads of adocretos are in place to continue road work in North Akumal. All that’s missing to finish the road is the polvo, a little cement, and the labor. Got any spare change . . .? (Fairly) new is La Lunita’s Happy Hour. From 1 – 5, drinks are 2-fer and there is a special snacks menu. Pictured is chorizo in white wine. Not new – but interesting – is Trivia Night at MOM’s in Playa. Teams put up an entrance fee for a shot at winning bar tab credit. The real winners are the rescued critters that are taken care of by Playa Animal Rescue: MOM’s donates a percentage of sales on contest nights, the last Monday of the month. MOM’s is located at Calle 4 and Av 30. Advertise and support the community! Like AkumalNow, donate to keep us running.
