Vecinos News – July 2022

♦ Progress is being made toward permanent legal agreements to assure the autonomy of Akumal Norte.  The attorney has completed a map of Akumal Norte boundaries and is matching it with information on file with the government.

♦ A crew will be hired to clean and remove trash and jungle debris from Yalkú Park and move two benches into place.   If you would like to make a donation toward park maintenance, please click here for our donation form:

♦ The Board has tentatively scheduled an extraordinary meeting to approve modifications to the Bylaws to be held the third week of November (November 15-18).  The Charter Committee hopes to post the revisions on the website in September for review and comment.

♦ Parque Yalkú at the lagoon will build a parking lot on the corner across from their venue to accommodate the vans, cars, taxis that create a jam at the corner.

♦ General road maintenance was completed by June 30. In July, the topes (speed bumps) at the pluma (which generated many complaints) will be redesigned thanks to the generosity of Lou Vitale from Casa Redondo.

♦ Vecinos is still in negotiations with neighbors to identify a route for the sewer line from the main highway into Akumal Norte.   A meeting will be set up with the state director of CAPA.
