The Sapote

This wonderful tree is found from the Yucatan to Costa Rica. Its fruit is sometimes known as the Mexican apple.  Its scientific name is Casimiroa edulis , named for Casimiro from Hidalgo, Mexico, who fought and died in the Mexican War of Independence.

The fruit of the Sapote tree is divine, tasting like a pear with a hint of cinnamon. There are from 1 to 5 seeds which are easily started for more sapote trees. However, the trees are very slow growing and can reach a height of 16 mt.

Also, you can dry the seeds and grind them to make a great facial mask.
