On November 6 a couple staying in La Bahía in Akumal Norte had a disagreement which became physical. The female guest went to the condo office for help. Akumal Sunshine staff tried to settle the disagreement, but the male guest was out of control and property was being destroyed.Staff called the Guardia Nacional for help. They arrived in less than 10 minutes and stayed in the condo for about an hour to ensure the male guest had settled down. The Guardia informed him that if they had to come back he would be taken to jail. Condo staff then found another condo for the female guest.
Condo owners were very happy with how the problem was handled. The condo building has many new owners in 2021. After it was over, all owners said how safe they felt with the National Guard in North Akumal.
