Wow–Best of the Best , June 2017 was a fun event for Akumal locals and guests alike. Great weather, surprise drawings, super drinks, and ever-interesting conversations made this event another stand-out. As you know, local restaurants award winners in the three categories (Best Shirt, Best Sandals, and Best Clever T-Shirt) with a free drink. The featured restaurants for June were Turtle Bay Bakery and Café, Lunita Restaurant, and La Buena Vida Restaurant.
An added aspect has been the surprise drawings –Turtle Bay’s own Bartley Smith donated a bottle of their unique Cueva Vodka and La Buena Vida’s owner, Jamie Cost, gave away a bottle of wine with your order of dinner at LBV. All those attending receive a number; lucky winners in June were Jamie Cost winning the Cueva Vodka and Debra winning the bottle of wine.
Once again, there was no winner for the Best Clever T-shirt; however, there were plenty of entries in the other two categories. Best Shirt was won by Ron Stern and Best Sandals by Cherri Rittenhouse. Judges were Mary Henderson, Carly Flores, and Annette Bartsch.
