The Akumal Puño

The Akumal Puño

Last Monday a select group of Akumalites was bemoaning the northern flu and cold germs arriving daily in our (germ-free) paradise. The hand shakes and hugs and kisses are standard, and no one wants to totally give them up. But these lovely greetings are laden with illness waiting to happen. What to do, what to do. How can we have the best of both worlds — touching and staying healthy?

Here’s what they came up with — the Akumal puño.   Make a fist and bump each other with the knuckles closest to your wrist.   You’re not likely to eat a snack, wipe your eyes, or pick your nose with these babies. You should be safe until you can get to a sink or the antibacterial gel.

This could go global!
