STAND UP! RECORDS ANNOUNCES 2015 AKUMAL COMEDY FESTIVAL
Stand Up! Records founder Dan Schlissel has announced the 4th annual Akumal Comedy Festival, slated for April 14-18, 2015. The event will hold shows in Tulum, Playa del Carmen and Akumal itself, in an assortment of world class venues.
The 2015 Akumal Comedy Festival has taken on an increased significance in the wake of the tragic passing of Festival co-founder Gus Lynch this past November. Lynch was visiting the Akumal area with family when he sustained injuries from a fall.
Schlissel and co-producer Marieke Brown were determined to continue the Festival in 2015 as a tribute to Gus, who was adored in the area for both his comedic talent and boundless generosity. Once again, the Festival will act as a benefit for the Mexican Red Cross to raise money to maintain the Akumal Ambulance.
The Festival will feature an impressive array of professional comics from the United States and beyond. Curated by Grammy-winning producer Schlissel, the 2015 Akumal Comedy Festival lineup will feature close to twenty comics, with many boasting large-scale television credits and numerous being Stand Up! Records alumni.
