A couple of Sundays ago, my neighbors and I tried the Xalmar Beach Club, located on beautiful Xpu-Ha beach. The entrance is located right before the Catalonia Hotel, just before the wall. There’s tons of parking with only a short walk to the beach. A reservation is necessary. Opening at 10:00, we were some of the first to arrive. However, the beach club quickly filled up.
The entrance fee is $500 pesos per person. $400 of that is deducted from your food and drink bill, during your stay. We had breakfast, with Brian having what looked like a beautiful sundae of yogurt with fresh fruit on top and sides of honey, granola, and coconut flakes. I had a yummy smoothie as did Corrine.
Our waiter and service were really excellent. We’d chosen 3 loungers with shade just steps from the beach. As the day went on, we ordered drinks and snacks. Around 5 PM we decided to go up to the restaurant and order an early dinner. The beach club closes at 6 PM.
Brian had one of the largest club sandwiches I’d ever seen. Served with a small basket of fries, it did look delicious. Corrine decided on guacamole and received a huge order with lots of chips. I ordered the empanadas and was not disappointed. There were 5 different varieties to choose from and I was happy with my choices.
Being a Sunday, they had a DJ playing music. Lots of families were here to sit on loungers or chairs and tables in the sand. There’s lots of covered areas to be out of the sun, and the water and beach were perfect.
