ROAD RESTORATION PROJECT
Well folks, we are nearing the end of this a multi-year project. My hope is to see the road completed before the 2016-2017 high season. But this depends on donations from community property and business owners.
At the moment, the road is one block short of being totally completed from the Akumal Norte pluma to La Iguana. In addition, the adocreto bricks are here and we will begin on Monday, April 4th, to resurface the road from the intersection at Bellamar all the way to Casa Tranquilidad. Then what’s left? The section in front of Casa Milagro, and the section from the intersection at La Iguana to Annette’s house.
Resurfacing from Bellamar to Casa Tranquilidad will be completed within four weeks at a cost of $58,500 pesos for labor and materials, excluding the cost of the bricks which were donated. To finish the section from La Iguana to Annette’s house is estimated to run $430,000 pesos. Casa Gatos is donating $2000 usd to kick off this last push, and Grupo Ritco that manages the entrance to Yal Ku Lagoon has pledged $6,000 pesos per month for building and future road maintenance.
Please, I know many of you have already given, but I’m asking for your help one more time. Vecinos accepts credit cards, checks, and cash. We will also issue facturas for your contributions, which can be used for both Mexican and U.S. taxes.
This road is a major step forward for us as owners, renters and users. On completion it will increase the value of our homes and the ease of navigation for our guests. Just think, we’ll no longer need to worry about finding the potholes in a blinding rain storm or breaking the car chassis!
