I was in Akumal recently and observed a group of official looking people assisting baby turtles, although I’m not sure in what manner. They were taking turtles from the nest and putting them in a plastic bucket. I asked if I could take a picture or video of what they were doing and was told “NO” very strongly. Why are pictures not allowed? I thought it would be a cool way to spread the word about those who are helping dave and rebuild the turtle population.
Hi, Steve!
We checked with a turtle person who said that generally they were amenable to photos, as long as no flashes were used and the camera was not close to the turtles, especially the babies.
