The #TrenMaya opens on December 15 from Campeche to Cancún; on December 31 from Cancún to Palenque, and on February 29, total open. 1,554 km, 34 stations, 29 restored archaeological sites, and 6 hotels.
You may notice rates are missing for the leg from Pto. Morelos to Tulum. Hmmm…
Starting on Friday, 1 December, tickets for the first section of the Maya Train will be available for purchase, according to an announcement made by project head Óscar David Lozano Águila. The government has yet to provide the details on the ticket sale platform.
Is the Maya Train fully operational? Can I take the train from Cancun to Palenque or is it strictly regional?
As of 21 December, the section from Cancun to Palenque has not been completed.
In the USA, we charge the same price for Mexicans on our trains and busses. The mayatren makes us pay more.We are neighbors and should treat each other with respect. We have to subsidize our projects with our taxes, but don’t charge Mexicans more on the ticket prices.
Charging foreign such amount of money for fares is disappointing .I understand the fact that locals are the ones to benefited from the money and investment associated with this megaproject.Nevertheless, in most of countries, fares are the same for everyone, except those for students, senior citizens, children and disable people.
in this case, the message is to us is ” if you want to travel in this train, you must pay more” in other words, You arent welcome
Do you know if Akumal will end up having a “paradero” as it was originally planned? Thanks!
No idea!
