Playa del Carmen Name Change?

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Solidaridad Mayor Estefanía Mercado Asencio says she will propose a municipal name change to City Council then State Congress. If approved, she will open a public consult into a name change. On Thursday, the new mayor says a name change from Solidaridad to Playa del Carmen is being considered.“At an international level we are known as Playa del Carmen which is a community of founding families, and many who come from all over Mexico to stake their lives and their future here feel much more represented by Playa del Carmen,” she said.
