No Dogs on Tulum Municipio Beaches

According to a recent Riviera Maya News report, the Directorate of Civil Protection and Ecology and Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone are taking what they feel are necessary steps to help better protect Tulum beaches.

José Alberto Cortes Lagunes, municipal director of Zofemat, said that they are taking measures to reduce the presence of dogs on beaches in conjunction with the municipal health management.  Tulum joins the many beaches, parks, camp grounds, and other public areas in the U.S. that enforce dog restrictions.

The new dog restrictions are being enforced to help keep people safe while using the public beaches.  Municipal officials will be adding public notices to all areas so both locals and visitors understand the rule when using the beaches.

Beach-goers have already reported that the Guardia Nacional and municipal police officers have been out on the beaches explaining the new regulation and warning that tickets will be written to offenders.

This regulation is especially welcome now as we near the 2022 turtle season.
