Sherwood Anders has mailed info about the Akumal Library Summer Program, which runs from July 21st through August 14th. This four week program, called Express Yourself! will include lessons in photography, art, yoga, storytelling, literacy, reading, and more. Between 50 and 60 children are expected to participate.
The summer program supplements Hekab Be Library’s after-school program. Volunteers, including Sherwood, provide English lessons, arts and crafts, environmental education, and much more for kids ages 3 – 12.
Sherwood says that sponsorships for the 2014 Summer Program are available for $60 per child, which covers supplies, staff salaries, etc. It’s a great way to give back, as well as demonstrate our commitment to our community and adopted home. Donations in any amount will help, and be gratefully and greatly appreciated!
