Avocado Storage Tricks

The creamy avocado can enhance almost any meal.  It can be added to your favorite sandwich, tacos, salad, the possibility list is lengthy.  To help us avoid encountering a sad, brown, mushy avocado, @thecrosslegacy recently shared a few tips to prevent spoilage.

If you are left with half of an avocado, place it (pit included) in a Mason jar, seal it with a metal lid and keep it in your refrigerator. It should stay fresh for up to a week.  Keeping it in chilly condition helps prevent oxidation, a chemical reaction that causes the fruit to turn brown.

Store unripe whole avocados in your crisper drawer next to lemons; they will last for up to a month.  The acidity from the lemon peel can help slow down the oxidation which will allow you to keep your avocados longer.  Allowing you to enjoy them when the temptation strikes.
