Alternative routes during the remodeling of Cancun’s Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard have been worked out. A portion of the city’s roadway remodel project includes a cloverleaf system at the Cancun International Airport which is expected to be complete in October of 2023. During that time, motorists will have to use alternate routes to enter and exit the airport until the new structure is finished.
According to ASUR, the entry lanes to the airport from the city of Cancun will not be altered, nor will the exit to Playa del Carmen and Tulum. During cloverleaf construction, the roads will be closed to allow building, but it will be done sequentially during the first half of 2023.
For vehicles leaving the airport and heading toward Playa del Carmen and Tulum, there are currently no changes.
Vehicles coming from Tulum and Playa del Carmen to the airport in south-north circulation will take a detour toward the Cancun Hotel Zone to the Fonatur roundabout toward the airport bridge.
