What You Should & Shouldn’t Eat To Repel Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes can be a nuisance, especially if they’re fond of you. If you’re a mosquito magnet you might want to know how to repel them. “Mosquitoes are attracted to the carbon dioxide we exhale, our body heat, and chemicals on our skin” according to Eva Buckner, an assistant professor at the University of Florida.

Researchers have found a link between certain foods and drinks that draw mosquitoes to you. Stinky cheese, sweet foods, desserts, beer, and bananas all have compounds in them that attract mosquitoes.

If you want to give yourself a better chance of avoiding mosquito bites, here are some foods that might help. Sweet basil, sage, rosemary, garlic, onions, and grapefruit are foods with strong aromas that repel the irritating bloodsuckers.
